| Abstract:【Objective】In recent years, with the large-scale application of plant protection UAVs in pesticide spraying operations in banana plantations, the dynamic response of canopy structures and the mechanisms of fluid-structure interaction have emerged as critical scientific challenges limiting precise pesticide application. Current research predominantly focuses on the static aerodynamic characterization of crop canopies under steady-state homogeneous flow fields. However, in real-world operational scenarios, canopies are subjected to combined aerodynamic effects from rotor-induced downwash flow and ambient natural wind. Existing studies often neglect the role of ambient natural wind and rarely address torn leaves in real-world operational scenarios, resulting in an insufficient understanding of the coupling mechanisms between leaf damage and dynamic flow fields. This knowledge gap hinders the optimization of pesticide deposition efficiency and mechanical risk assessment in UAV-based operations.【Method】This study employs an agricultural aviation high-low-speed composite wind tunnel test system and establishes a banana leaf deformation measurement system incorporating high-speed cameras and thermal anemometers. Using mature "Baodao 7" banana leaves as test subjects, we innovatively propose three angular parameters to characterize leaf morphological changes, investigating the deformation, tearing, and dynamic response mechanisms of banana leaves under natural wind speeds (1-5 m/s).【Results】Results demonstrate: (1) At low wind speeds (1-2 m/s), leaf tearing minimally affects deformation; (2) At 3 m/s, torn leaves reconstruct flow fields through cracks, exhibiting reduced oscillation amplitudes (angular variation decreased by 24.60%, 74.68%, and 80.36% compared to intact leaves); (3) At 4-5 m/s, structural stiffness degradation intensifies deformation (angular variation increased by 35.09%, 50.88%, and 69.83%). Dimensionless analysis reveals angular variation positively correlates with Reynolds number (Re) through a linear function and relates to plant Cauchy number (Cy) via a power function. 【Conclusion】This study reveals the "damage gradient-flow field restructuring-mechanical response" mechanism in banana leaves, clarifying the regulatory effects of damage-induced flow field restructuring on their dynamic behavior. The findings provide insights into optimizing the compatibility between operational parameters of plant protection UAVs and canopy dynamic responses during banana spraying operations. |
